Modular belt conveyors offer an intermediate solution between belt conveyors and chain conveyors. A modular belt is composed of individual plastic modules, typically connected by connecting bars.
Modular plastic belt conveyors are connected by connecting bars. These segments can be removed and replaced individually, unlike flat belt conveyors where the entire belt must be discarded. They are also easier to clean and more resistant to sharp and abrasive materials. As a result, modular belt conveyors are simpler to maintain and repair than flat belt conveyors.
